The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry plays a significant role in the Philippines’ growth and development. It employs over a million individuals and is considered as one of the top employers of the country. Come 2022, the BPO industry is estimated to generate around 38.9 billion US dollars of revenue.

With the recent coronavirus pandemic, the industry has been placed in a challenging position. Health officers have warned the general public against the virus’s capability to spread with close contact, causing both private and public establishments to cease operations for the time being. However, this is not the case for many BPO firms in the country. The industry continues to render its services amidst the threat, at the same time making sure that they are taking the necessary measures to ensure their employees and workplace are safe.

To secure the continuity of their operations, here are some of the measurements that BPO companies have made.

Temporary Accommodation. To avoid the daily commute to work and reduce the risk of transmission, some BPO companies have offered their employees temporary accommodation close to their workplace.

Work-From-Home Privilege. To help keep their employees indoors, most BPO companies have offered their employees the opportunity to work from home, given that those employees have a stable internet connection.

Additional Benefits for On-site Employees. For employees working on-site, policies such as social distancing and proper cleanliness will be observed. Other BPO companies in the Philippines offer free meals, transportation, office sanitizers, and a hazard-bonus on top of their employees’ regular pay.

These are just a few of the many efforts of some BPO companies in the country to counter the pandemic and ensure the business’s continuity.
