Working from home has some of its pros and cons. When you work from home, you don’t have to commute to the office, you don’t have to sit in small cubicles and endure noisy co-workers. However, working from home also comes with its share of challenges and distractions. Family, pets, television, and other distractions are just a step away when you’re at home. That’s why it’s important that you have the right home office set-up to keep you focused and productive.

Find a good location If possible, make sure that you choose a spot away from activity centers like the kitchen and living area, because your family will most likely be using these areas during your work hours. When choosing a spot, ask yourself these questions—Will it be noisy? Is there a door you can close for meetings or when you need a quiet space? Do you have enough electrical outlets? Dedicate a schedule for work Dedicate a time when you want to start working. Instead of browsing through your social media accounts, take time to classify emails, messages, create notes around your projects, and jot any concepts you would possibly have. This allows your mind to switch to work mode so that when you enter the work-space, you’re ready and prepared to concentrate on the project in real time.

Make it comfortable When you work in the same spot all day, make sure that you surround yourself with things that can help you go to work mode and prevent future pains and strains caused by bad posture or uncomfortable furniture. Let some light in where you work. Good lighting prevents eyestrain and headaches, even if you’re working by the glow of a computer monitor or laptop screen. Set up your workspace near a window or different supply of daylight, that’s a natural mood booster. For more information and helpful tips, visit this blog.
